Welcome to Bank Mill Visitor Centre
Bank Mill Nurseries and Visitors Centre is situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Beautiful Solway Coastline is just 200 metres away.
We are pleased to announce that the 'Keswick Dinosaur Experience' has taken up residency in what was our 'Tropical Butterfly House and Reptilia' much to the disgust of 'Captain Charlie' and his pirates.
Bank Mill has been selected by Hadrian`s Wall Trust to be an `interpretation centre`to help promote knowledge of the importance of the Solway for the survival of Hadrian`s Wall. Although the Roman Frontier extends over Europe and North Africa, the section from Bowness to Ravenglass is the area we are interested in.
Maps and information are available in the centre.
Whether you come for a tour of the Dinosaur Exhibition; `Jurassic Island`, The Nature Reserve or just pop into the Dunes Coffee Shop for a hot drink or a slice of freshly baked you can be assured of a warm welcome from everyone at Bank Mill
With a view to extending the Nursery Retail Sales season, Bank Mill diversified a few years ago to Incorporate the Tropical House, home to numerous Flora & Fauna from across the globe and it is also a Sanctuary for various Bank Mill Rescue Animals.
The following year the Coffee Shop/Restaurant was opened and much work was carried out on the Nature Reserve to open it to the public. The Year after the Education Wing was created adjacent to The Dunes providing much needed seating at times.
The year after, due to such popularity of both the Meals and Friendly Service from the coffee shop, the Education Wing was then converted into Comfortable Seating Area, an Extension to The Dunes Coffee Shop and Evening Bistro proving to be a huge success.
The Nature Reserve has continued to be a success and has proven to be very popular with visitors with two new members of The Bank Mill Family, Hope & Destiny our Dartmoor Rescue Ponies!
Also we have a great selection of Ducks, Geese and our resident Swans. On visiting why not feed them, we have feed available at the counter, so you can enjoy a lovely "Up Close & Personal" experience with these birds.
The Children's Play Area is just over the path with climbing frames, tire swings etc and also The Willow Tunnel, Now well established, has continued to be popular with such games as Hide and Seek.
The Maze planted back in 2008 is getting denser by the year and proves a popular attraction with people of all ages.
The Crazy Golf also continues to be ever popular with our customers.
